Tommye Sandra McDaniel Bryson passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in Chattanooga.

She attended Wilberforce University and performed with the Wilberforce Choral Ensemble. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Services from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Tommye was formerly a member of and pianist St. Paul AME Church and was the church pianist. She later joined Washington Hills United Methodist Church and served as the church pianist. Tommye was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Bryson; parents, Thomas A. McDaniel and Inez McDaniel; sister, Betty Ramsey; cousins, Elaine Jackson and Joan Stokes; aunt, Mildred Barker; grandparents, Eddie & Gennie Stokes.

Survivors include brothers, Carlton McDaniel (caretaker), John “JT” (Janice) McDaniel; sister, Luetricia Phillips; special friends, Yolanda Madden and Donald White; nieces and nephews, Carlton (Shaddae) McDaniel, Jr., James Phillips, Jr., Nikita Stubblefield, Andre Ramsey, Rico Ramsey, Malik and Malaki McDaniel, Ahmi Mosley, Nasir Jackson, Malaysia McDaniel, Malana McDaniel, Charles Barker, and Shiela Barker; other relatives and dear friends.

Public viewing will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, in the funeral home chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
