Celebrate Earth Week With North Hamilton County's 1st Big Recycling Bash

  • Thursday, April 18, 2024
This Earth Week, North Hamilton County is stepping up its green game with its first-ever major recycling event, hosted by Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful.

"We’re inviting everyone to come out, have fun and make a difference by recycling items like mattresses, e-waste and even old sneakers," organizers said. "Join us this Saturday from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Soddy Lake Park, and continue the recycling efforts throughout the week at Sequoyah Recycling Center. This event isn’t just about doing good—it’s about having a great time doing it.
Recycling helps reduce waste, save resources and keep our community clean and healthy. By turning out to recycle, you’re not just throwing away less; you’re helping create a future where we all take better care of our planet."

Cindi Sanden, the coordinator of the event, encourages everyone to join in. "We're making recycling easy and fun. It’s a powerful way to connect with neighbors and take real action for Earth Week. Plus, there’s something rewarding about turning your old stuff into something new again," she said.

Volunteers are needed to guide activities and help everyone recycle right. Sign up, get details on what they are collecting, and find out more about the event hours and locations here.

Lunch and drinks will be provided for all volunteers.

"This is more than just a local recycling day—it’s a community celebration of Earth Week that aims to set a new standard for sustainability in North Hamilton County," organizers said.
